Actes Sud is an independent literary publisher established in Arles, France, for over 30 years. With a strong emphasis on literary fiction, it has established a solid reputation in publishing foreign fiction, making a point of reading literature from all over the world in its original language. Over the years, it has also spectacularly developed its French list, becoming a main player in French publishing, managing to impose highly ambitious young writers such as Laurent Gaudé, Mathias Enard or Jérôme Ferrari just to name a few. Their annual production is about 500 titles a year.

Myriam feels that nothing can replace what meeting people and having actual human contacts brings up to any international professional relationship. She also see this program in terms of exchanges, hoping to establish relationships that will go both ways, and ultimately help bring some of their best French writers to Mexican & Latin-American readers.

Founded in 1837, Bonnier is one of the oldest and most important respected publishing houses in Sweden. They issue about 100 titles a year, including domestic fiction, poetry, narrative non-fiction and translated fiction. Albert Bonniers Förlag sets the tone in the field of Swedish fiction, publishing classics as well as modern works, established authors and new previously-unpublished ones. Michael Laub, Maria Dueñas, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Care Santos and Javier Marías are some of their authors.

Charlotte's goal at Albert Bonniers is to cross borders and introduce new important voices from different parts of the world. It would be so inspiring for me to be introduced to the Latin American publishing world.

Cappelen Damm is Norway's largest publishing house, publishing approximately 1200 titles a year - these include Norwegian and translated high-quality fiction, non-fiction, young adult/children and educational books. It has a leading position within most editorial areas, and represents a unique range of both literary and commercial authors. The publishing house also produces a substantial number of magazines, maps and games.

As he has participated in other fellowship programs, and found the experience very rewarding, both professionally and personally, Møller hopes that this participation gives him an opportunity to be immersed in the Mexican literature specially and in Latin American and Spanish/Portuguese literature in general. He thinks this program offers an excellent opportunity to get a sense of what's going on in Spanish and Portuguese-language book markets, as well as a very good way to get connected to editors and agents.

Serpent's Tail is renowned for publishing high quality literary fiction and crime fiction from all over the world, both originated in English and in translation. It has a reputation for publishing bold, surprising books that push boundaries and ask difficult questions. Also it publishes a small number of non-fiction titles a year, on subjects of a similarly rebellious character, from radical politics to countercultural memoir and music biography. Their authors include Nobel Prize winners Elfriedge Jelinek and Hertha Muller, Orange Prize winning Lionel Shriver, Booker and Orange shortlisted Esi Edugyan.

Serpent's Tail has a long tradition of publishing Latin American and Spanish writers and Hannah is very keen to forge new relationships with publishers from these markets, to get to know a new generation of writers and editors and she hopes to find some new Latin American writers to publish in the UK. She has heard only good things about the Guadalajara Book Fair from colleagues and friends in the publishing industry around the world.

With about 200 new titles each year, they publish literature and non-fiction of the most important Dutch and International literary authors. Translated authors include Jonathan Franzen, John Lanchester, Albert Espinosa, Umberto Eco, Tom Wolfe and Margaret Atwood.

They publish top literary authors; but their position in translations from Latin-America is not strong, and Job believes that there are wonderful things happening there at the moment. He wants to discover those markets himself, and the FIL Rights Exchange Program is the best way to do that.

Hoffmann und Campe is a very prestigious and traditional publishing house and one of the few remaining independent houses in Germany. On the fiction side they publish a number of important German language authors as Siegfried Lenz, Wolf Haas, Matthias Politycki and Benjamin Lebert.Their international fiction list ranges from literary authors such as William Trevor and Nobel prize winners Doris Lessing, José Saramago, David Guterson to selected commercial authors heading the bestseller lists such as Patricia Cornwell, Thomas Harris, Jeannette Walls and Marie-Sabine Roget. Their big interest is to acquire new young promising authors, while they are supporting the works by the already established ones.

Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American literature is not so much in the focus of daily publishing life in Germany, so Angela thinks the program is a good way to make contacts, to get in touch with authors, agents and readers of the Spanish and Portuguese language market, especially in Latin America. Also she believes it is always a benefit to exchange ideas internationally, and the Guadalajara Book Fair seems to be a place where this happens regularly.

Antje Kunstmann Verlag is a small but very well respected independent publishing house in Munich, Germany. It publishes international and national fiction and non-fiction and also some gift books as well as audiobooks. As a traditional hardback publishing house their focus is on discovering, presenting and establishing authors in the German market, so in general Moritz is looking for exciting new talents and try to develop lasting relationships with authors.

To Moritz this is an opportunity to meet colleagues from all around the world, but mostly hopes to develop lasting contacts to various publishers from Latin America. He thinks fellowships are a great way to get to know the international colleagues and their authors, their markets and projects and hear about their problems and the solutions they pursue. So basically he hopes that the benefits are: new and lasting contacts for the long run and maybe to discover some books or authors he could publish in Germany.

Founded in 2002 as a group, consists of 6 imprints/ former smaller publishing houses with a long history. Samleren was founded in 1942 and Rosinante in 1982. They publish translated fiction, non-fiction and children's fiction. Authors include Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Bret Easton Ellis, Claudio Magris, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, José Saramago, Ken Follet Hosseini, Zadie Smith, as well as crime writers such as Arnaldur Indridason, Fred Vargas, Jean-Christophe Grangé, John le Carré, Liza Marklund and many others.

Historically Rosinante & Co has a strong tradition in Spanish and Latin America fiction, but Julie thinks that it has lost touch with that market, and she would like to introduce new and younger authors in Denmark. She works for two imprints: Samleren and Rosinante, and their focus is high-quality fiction, narrative non-fiction and crime fiction. She would like to be able to create a network within the Spanish and Latin American publishing world, and has heard wonderful things about the Guadalajara Book fair.

Is an agency representing foreign authors in Poland. In the beginning they were working mainly with the Anglo-Saxon authors and agencies, but few years ago they decided to broaden their offer by Spanish and South American authors. They commenced co-operation with great Spanish and Latin American houses and agencies, becoming a very important part of its operations. Among others, represent authors like Jose Marias, Laura Esquivel, Jorge Franco, Boris Izaguirre, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Tomas Eloy Martinez, Angeles Mastretta, Carmen Posadas, Beatriz Preciado, Merce Rodoreda, Juan Gabriel Vasquez, Sandra Cisneros and Eduardo Galeano.

Aleksandra has the ambition of introducing more Spanish and Portuguese authors to Polish readers. She trust that by participating in the program she will learn a lot about these territories, publishing houses, great authors that simply have to be introduced to Poland. She is looking to establishing direct contacts, because is the best way to further develop co-operation.
