Literature for Children: Shaping the World for Young Readers

In its twenty-second edition, the Reading Promoters Meeting at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) will share experiences and projects designed to ignite a passion for books and reading. To celebrate this, we will dedicate three days to discussing and reflecting on new strategies for fostering reading habits in children as an essential part of emotional and social development.

Undoubtedly, in recent years, the world of children's literature has been enriched by the collaborative efforts of writers, illustrators, and publishers. Extraordinary stories are told through images, verses, tales, and plays. As the publishing world grows and reinvents itself, the role of the reading mediator faces increasing challenges.

How do we create new generations of readers in an environment full of distractions? How do we choose the right story? How do we maintain the interest of young minds accustomed to brevity and immediacy? These and other questions will be addressed by professionals and specialists who will gather in Guadalajara for this event.

With the organization of the Reading Promoters Meeting, the Guadalajara International Book Fair reaffirms its commitment to leveraging the efforts of various national and international institutions involved in the training of reading promoters, aiming to contribute to their professionalization and the recognition of the reading mediator as a fundamental link between the book and the readers.

The Reading Promoters Meeting at FIL Guadalajara is sponsored by the SM Foundation and benefits from the collaboration of the Jalisco Secretariat of Culture through the National Reading Rooms Program.
