Reading Promoters Conference
The challenges of reading in the age of AI
In its twenty-third edition, the Reading Promoters Conference of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) will dedicate three days to reflect on how the everyday use of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the way we access information, and how this change influences reading habits.
While some experts celebrate and encourage the use of AI tools in the field of education and reading promotion, others warn about the danger that this technology represents, pointing out that its indiscriminate use is contributing to the decrease in concentration, analysis and reflection abilities in individuals.
How can we counteract these effects and encourage reading habits in a digital environment? What kind of strategies can be implemented to promote critical and deep reading, with the support of AI? These and other questions will be addressed by the professionals and specialists who will meet in Guadalajara for this occasion.
With the organization of the Reading Promoters Conference, the FIL Guadalajara reiterates its commitment to capitalizing on the efforts of various national and international institutions involved in the training of reading mediators, with the goal of contributing to their professionalization and to the recognition of promoters as a fundamental element to connect books with readers.
The Reading Promoters Meeting at FIL Guadalajara is sponsored by the SM Foundation and benefits from the collaboration of the Jalisco Secretariat of Culture through the National Reading Rooms Program.
