Using metadata to make the match: the role of catalogs in connecting with readers
This panel invites reflection on the role of publishing catalogs as active engines of discovery when developed with intelligence and sensitivity. It will explore how new technologies—including artificial intelligence, automation, and audience segmentation—allow both new releases and backlist titles to remain vibrant, visible, and active. The strategic use of technology, data, curation, and AI tools not only facilitates readers’ search for books but also guides them toward new reading experiences. In this way, the catalog becomes a dynamic tool that connects the past, present, and future of the book, allowing each title to be continually rediscovered by new audiences.
