Amin Maalouf

(Líbano, 1949)

Amin Maalouf nació en Beirut el 25 de febrero de 1949, en el seno de una familia de docentes. Estudió economía y sociología antes de comenzar su carrera como periodista y reportero cubriendo acontecimientos internacionales de gran trascendencia, como la caída de la monarquía etíope en 1974 y la última batalla de Saigón en 1975. Con el estallido de la guerra en Líbano, se trasladó a Francia junto con su esposa e hijos, donde retomó de inmediato su labor periodística en Jeune Afrique, publicación de la que llegaría a ser redactor en jefe y editorialista.
A partir de 1984 decidió dedicarse plenamente a la escritura. Su obra, atravesada por una constante reflexión sobre el exilio, la identidad y las fracturas del mundo contemporáneo, se despliega en diversos géneros. En sus novelas combina la frescura histórica con la búsqueda íntima, como en León el Africano (1986), Samarcanda (1988), La Roca de Tanios (1993, Premio Goncourt) o Los desorientados (2012). Sus ensayos —Las Cruzadas vistas por los árabes (1983), Identidades asesinas (1998), El desajuste del mundo (2009), El naufragio de las civilizaciones (2019) o El laberinto de los extraviados (2023), distinguido con el Premio de la Asociación de Libreros de Madrid— abordan las relaciones entre Oriente y Occidente, la memoria colectiva y las derivas de la globalización. A ellos se suman sus libretos de ópera, como El amor de lejos (2001), Adriana Mater (2006) o Émilie (2010), que trasladan al lenguaje musical su interés por el diálogo entre culturas. En su conjunto, la obra de Maalouf se erige como una propuesta profundamente humanista, atenta a las fracturas de la historia y, al mismo tiempo, a las aspiraciones universales de los individuos. Sus libros han sido traducidos a más de cincuenta lenguas.
Reconocido con numerosos premios y distinciones, recibió el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Letras (2010), el Premio Internacional de Cataluña (2024), el Premio Goncourt (1993) por La Roca de Tanios y el Premio Europeo de Ensayo (1998) por Identidades asesinas. Entre 2007 y 2008 presidió, por invitación de la Comisión Europea, un grupo de reflexión sobre el multilingüismo, que dio lugar al informe Un desafío saludable. Asimismo, ha sido distinguido con el título de doctor honoris causa por universidades como la Católica de Lovaina (Bélgica), la Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona (España), la de Évora (Portugal), la Americana de Beirut (Líbano) y la de Ottawa (Canadá).
Elegido miembro de la Academia Francesa en junio de 2011, en el sillón que perteneciera a Claude Lévi-Strauss, en septiembre de 2023 fue nombrado secretario perpetuo de la institución.

Sayri Karp Mitastein

Director of the Universidad de Guadalajara Press. Co-founder of Red Altexto, the Network of University and Academic Presses of Mexico, and a member of its Advisory Council. She served as President of the Association of University Presses of Latin America and the Caribbean (EULAC) from 2015 to 2023. In 2018, she received the University Publishing Merit Award from the University Book Fair of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, as well as the Rubén Bonifaz Nuño University Publisher Recognition, granted by UNAM during the International Book Fair of University Presses (Filuni).

Lía Castillo Meneses

President of the Latin American and Caribbean University Publishers Association (EULAC) since 2023. She holds a degree in Business Administration with postgraduate studies in Marketing and Sales. Since 2007, she has coordinated the Marketing and Sales department at the UPC Press of the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas. She is the founder of the university publishers and research/documentation centers chapter in Peru (EUPerú) and served as president during its first two terms.

Juan Felipe Córdoba

Director of the Editorial of the Universidad del Rosario. Consultant in Colombia for the International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, an autonomous body of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). He served as president of the Association of University Presses of Colombia (ASEUC) and, from 2009 to 2015, of the Association of University Presses of Latin America and the Caribbean (EULAC). In 2019, he received the Rubén Bonifaz Nuño Recognition for University Publishers, awarded by UNAM at the International Book Fair for University Publishers (Filuni).

Luis Miguel Estrada

Luego de estudiar y trabajar como Contador Público, se convenció de que lo que más contaba para él (y lo que él contaba mejor) eran las historias, la literatura. Ha trabajado como profesor y tallerista en México y Estados Unidos. Sus libros de cuento han sido reconocidos con el Premio Nacional Juan José Arreola, el Premio Nacional Agustín Yáñez, el Premio de Literatura Gilberto Owen. Como es fan del box, publicó El último argumento del Rey (FCE, 2024).

Erika Zepeda

Además de armar rompecabezas y escribir historias para niños y jóvenes, Erika adora las historias de terror (en formato de libro, película, serie o videojuego). Si hay un monstruo aterrador con tentáculos y poderes intergalácticos, mejor; y si además hay zombis come cerebros, mucho mejor.

Erika vive actualmente en la ciudad de Guadalajara, desde donde observa el mundo y espera con impaciencia la llegada de los marcianos, el destape de los reptilianos o, tal vez, el despertar de Cthulhu.

Gonzalo Celorio

Doctor en lengua y literatura hispanoamericana por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Ha sido galardonado con el Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes, y el Premio Nacional de Novela. Es autor de diversas novelas, las cuales han sido traducidas a más de cinco idiomas; además de crear decenas de ensayos y crónicas. Ha sido docente en la Universidad Iberoamericana, el Politécnico Nacional, el Colegio de México, y actualmente, es profesor de literatura hispanoamericana en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM; además de impartir la cátedra extraordinaria Maestros del exilio español. Fue secretario académico del Colegio de Letras, director de Literatura del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes de los Universitarios y director del Fondo de Cultura Económica. Asimismo, es director de la Academia Mexicana de la Lengua.

Jorge Luján

(Córdoba, Argentina)

Ganador del XXI Premio Iberoamericano SM de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil.
Se licenció en letras hispánicas en la UNAM con mención honorífica y como arquitecto en la Universidad de Córdoba, Argentina, donde también estudió composición musical y cinematografía. Ganó una beca Fullbright para estudiar artes plásticas y escenografía en Antioch College. Es autor de 50 libros, incluyendo poesía, novela, metodología creativa y álbumes ilustrados. Ha sido traducido a 18 idiomas, incluido el maya. Ha impartido cursos en Columbia University y diversas instituciones de EUA, Europa y Latinoamérica. Sus libros han recibido premios del New York Times, el Banco del Libro, The International Latino Book Awards, White Ravens, Die Zeit, Andersen, IBBY y el Ministerio de Educación de Francia, entre otros.

María Elena Saucedo Lugo

(Ciudad de México, 1954)

Es maestra en bibliotecología por el College of Librarianship, University of Wales, Reino Unido, y licenciada en bibliotecología por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
Se ha desempeñado profesionalmente en la Biblioteca del Niño del Instituto Mexicano de Asistencia a la Niñez (IMAN), en el Centro de Información y Documentación Universitarias de la Unión de Universidades de América Latina (UDUAL), en la Oficina de Documentación del Centro de Tecnología de Semiconductores del CINVESTAV en Guadalajara, así como en la Biblioteca Benjamín Franklin del Consulado General de los Estados Unidos en Guadalajara, en donde además, fungió por casi tres décadas como Especialista en asuntos culturales de la Sección de Diplomacia Pública. Ha sido impulsora del Intercambio Académico y Cultural entre los Estados Unidos y México, promoviendo diversos proyectos para beneficio de la Región Centro Occidente de nuestro país. Asimismo, ha sido docente en el Colegio de Bibliotecología de la UNAM, así como en la Universidad de Guadalajara.

Fernanda Trías

Fernanda Trías is a writer and teacher. She has published *Cuaderno para un solo ojo* (Notebook for a Single Eye), *La azotea* (The Rooftop), *La ciudad invencible* (The Invincible City), *No soñarás flores* (You Will Not Dream of Flowers), *Mugre rosa* (Pink Filth), and *El monte de las furias* (The Mountain of Furies). For *Mugre rosa*, she received the National Literature Prize (Uruguay, 2020), the Bartolomé Hidalgo Prize (Uruguay, 2021), and the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize (Mexico, 2021). In 2024, *Mugre rosa* was nominated for the National Book Awards in the United States. Both *La azotea* and *Mugre rosa* received the British PEN Translates Award (2020 and 2022). In 2025, she again received the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize for her novel *El monte de las furias*. Her novels have been translated into twenty languages. Since 2015, she has lived in Colombia, where she teaches in the Creative Writing Master's Program at the Caro y Cuervo Institute.

Julián Herbert

Acapulco, Guerrero, 1971. Es poeta, novelista, cuentista y ensayista. Ha recibido el Premio Nacional de Literatura Gilberto Owen, el Premio Nacional de Cuento Juan José Arreola, el Premio Jaén de Novela y el Premio de Novela Elena Poniatowska, entre otros. Es autor de una decena de libros de poesía, entre los que se cuentan Kubla Khan (2005), Pastilla camaleón (2009) y Las azules baladas (vienen del sueño) (2014). Su libro más reciente es Suerte de principiante. Once ideas sobre el oficio (2024).

Giselle Etcheverry Walker

Giselle Etcheverry Walker is a curator of literary and cultural projects, as well as a freelance editor. She holds a degree in Philosophy and has an MBA in Business Management and Cultural Institutions. 

From 2004 to 2009 she worked in the Prisa Group’s literary agency La Oficina del Autor. From 2009 to 2019 she was deputy director of the Santillana Foundation (Culture), where she participated in the development and consolidation of projects such as the Formentor Literary Conversations (Mallorca), the Congress of Cultural Journalism (Santander), the Forum of Cultural Industries (Madrid) and the Philosophy Festival (Madrid), among others.

As an editor, she has edited Hambre de realidad, by David Shields (CdT, 2017), El arte de perder. Una vida en cartas, by F. Scott Fitzgerald (CdT, 2018) and Decantaciones kantianas, by Ezra Heymann (Guillermo Editores, 2019). For more than ten years she was co-editor of the literary portal El Boomeran(g).

She has been curator of festival La Noche de los Libros de Madrid in 2022, 2023 and 2024, and curator of the editions of Bloomsday Madrid-Dublin 2023 and 2024, an event for celebrate Ulysses by James Joyce. Since 2020 until 2024, she was curator of El pecado de leer [The sin of reading], a series of literary events of Alianza Editorial Publishing House. Currently she is Head of Thinking and Literary programme at the Contemporánea Condeduque cultural centre (Madrid). 

In 2022 she contributed to the design of the literary programme of Spain’s Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair, as well as the contents of the pavilion and the programmes with German festivals and universities that hosted authors from Spain throughout that year. In 2024 she worked on the design of the content of the literary and pavilion programmes for Spain’s presence as Guest of Honour at the Guadalajara International Book Fair. She is a member of Policrits, Red de Pensamiento Crítico Iberoamericano Contemporáneo.

Ana María Falú

Como profesora emérita de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, exdirectora de INHAB –Instituto de Investigación de Vivienda y Hábitat–, y exdirectora regional de ONU Mujeres para América Latina, Falú ha liderado investigaciones, proyectos y programas que han sido referentes en la región y a nivel
internacional. Entre ellos destacan el programa “Ciudades sin Violencia hacia las Mujeres, Ciudades Seguras para Todos”, que colocó en la agenda urbana la relación entre violencia de género y espacio público, así como sus aportes al diseño de políticas de vivienda y hábitat con enfoque inclusivo.
Es autora de numerosas publicaciones, entre las que
sobresalen Mujeres en la ciudad. De violencias y derechos y Ciudades para convivir: sin violencias
hacia las mujeres, textos fundamentales en los estudios urbanos con perspectiva de género. Su labor ha sido reconocida con distinciones internacionales, entre ellas el Premio Trayectoria Académica de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (2022) y el Premio Global de ONU Hábitat por la
Igualdad de Género (2017), consolidando su papel como referente mundial en la intersección entre urbanismo, género y derechos humanos.

Alejandro Miravete

(Ciudad de México, 1996) es docente, investigador, traductor y poeta. Fue miembro de los extintos Seminario de Literatura Lésbica-Gay y Seminario Interdisciplinario de Estudios Cuir en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM. Autor de Tablero de diamantes (2024) y de El camino que nos antecede: 25 poetas gay negros (2025), ambos publicados por Editorial Niño Down, forma parte del colectivo Novísimxs de poetas LGBT.

Rodolfo Naró

Nació en Tequila, Jalisco, en 1967. Ha sido becario del Fonca en la disciplina de novela. Su obra poética está reunida en Los días inútiles (1985-1995), Lo que dejó tu adiós (1995-2005) y Elegir el fuego (2005-2015). Como novelista es autor de El orden infinito, finalista del Premio Planeta Argentina 2006 y considerada una de las mejores novelas del 2007 por la revista Gatopardo; Cállate niña y de la serie juvenil Desigual, integrada por las novelas Un corazón para Eva y su continuación Una eternidad para Eva.

Rafael Tovar López-Portillo

Rafael Tovar y López Portillo es un orgulloso mexicano, amante de la historia y rector de la Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana. Cursó la licenciatura en ciencias políticas, la maestría en historia, enfocándose en el México de los siglos XIX y XX, y el doctorado en filosofía política en la Universidad de San Diego California, especializándose en el papel de las mujeres en la política mexicana. Es miembro fundador de la Fundación Rafael Tovar y de Teresa y miembro del consejo directivo de la Fundación María Félix, así cómo miembro del patronato del Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso y de la Fundación Muró. Es autor del libro Las mujeres en la política mexicana: una revisión histórica y ha participado en conferencias sobre equidad de género, la importancia de la mujer en la política, el patrimonio nacional e historia de México, entre otros temas.

Alberto Ruy Sánchez

Alberto Ruy Sánchez (Ciudad de México 1951) ha publicado una veintena de títulos, entre ellos los ensayos Elogio del insomnio, Con la literatura en el cuerpo y Una introducción a Octavio Paz, los poemas de Decir es desear y El bosque erotizado. Y el ciclo de libros experimentales sobre el deseo, Quinteto de Mogador, donde confluyen poesía y ensayo en relatos novelescos y documentales. Su obra ha sido traducida a una docena de lenguas y ha recibido más de veinte premios nacionales e internacionales en San Petersburgo, Montauban, Chicago, Louisville y Zaragoza, entre otros.

Marisol Schulz Manaut

Marisol Schulz Manaut is an editor, commentator, speaker, cultural journalist, and expert in the literary and publishing world. She has received multiple recognitions for her work promoting reading and advocating for the future of books and the Spanish language.

For the past twelve years, she has served as the director of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, considered the most important Spanish-language book fair and one of the most significant in the world. Under her leadership, FIL Guadalajara has received several awards, including the prestigious Princess of Asturias Award in the area of Communication and Humanities, shared with the Hay Festival; the Order of Rio Branco from Brazil; and recently, the Sor Juana Medal, a recognition granted by the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana in Mexico.

She also directs the Los Angeles Spanish Language Book Fair and Literary Festival, an ambitious program aimed at promoting books and reading in Spanish in the United States, founded in 2011.

For over four decades, Marisol Schulz has focused on the book and reading sector, leading editorial areas in various public and private organizations, such as the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS). She was the editorial director at Plaza y Janés Mexico and spent 17 years at Grupo Santillana, first as executive editor and later as director of the Taurus and Alfaguara imprints in Mexico. She was responsible for the edition of major Ibero-American writers such as Carlos Fuentes, Mario Vargas Llosa, José Saramago, Arturo Pérez Reverte, Elena Poniatowska, Augusto Monterroso, Sergio Ramírez, Carmen Boullosa, Alberto Ruy Sánchez, and Xavier Velasco, among others.

In 2013, the Mexican edition of Forbes recognized her as one of the 50 most powerful women in Mexico. In 2016 and 2020, the magazine Quién named her one of the "50 people who move Mexico." In 2021, she received the National Juan Pablos Award for Editorial Merit, a recognition granted annually by the Mexican Chamber of the Publishing Industry (Cámara Nacional de la Industria Editorial Mexicana).

Karla Planter Pérez

Licenciada en estudios políticos y gobierno por la Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG), posee la maestría en estudios políticos y sociales y es candidata al doctorado por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Ha sido locutora, reportera, editora, redactora y conductora del noticiero matutino de Medios UdeG y en la sección de cultura del periódico Siglo 21. Es investigadora titular C, y docente en las licenciaturas en estudios políticos, sociología, relaciones internacionales, así como en la maestría en ciencia política de la UdeG. Actualmente es la Rectora General de la Universidad de Guadalajara.

Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes

He is currently working, since 2018, as Secretary of Public Education of the State of Jalisco. He has a degree in physics from the University of Guadalajara; graduated from the pedagogy career from the Pan American University, he has an MBA from the Pan American Institute of Senior Business management and a diploma in management of educational centers from the Institute of Management of Educational Centers of the ICAMI. For more than two decades he has worked as a teacher, he has been a committed official, a determined promoter of STEAM education; in addition, he is a proud father of a family.e
