Renato Iturriaga Acevedo

He studied his bachelor's degree (1984-1988) and a master's degree (1988-1989) in mathematics at the Faculty of Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He completed his doctorate at the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) in Rio de Janeiro (1989-1993). Since 1994 he has been working at the Center for Research in Mathematics in Guanajuato. Where he is currently a senior researcher C. Member of the National System of Researchers level III, and member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences.

His specialty is dynamical systems, partial differential equations and the calculus of variations. He has just over 30 projects with about a thousand citations.
He was President of the Board of Directors of the Mexican mathematical society, in the period 2020-2022

For just over two years he edited a science section in the newspaper Correo, from the state of Guanajuato. He has about 20 popular articles in different newspapers on various topics. He is, along with Aubin Arroyo, creator and coordinator of the Virtual Museum of Mathematics. In his free time he enjoys photography, walking, swimming, gardening, painting, and reading.

Aubín Arroyo

(Mexico, 1974)

He is a mathematician and a visual artist. He is a researcher at the Institute of Mathematics, Cuernavaca Campus of UNAM, where he specializes in dynamical systems, tropical geometry and number theory. He obtained his PhD in 2002 at the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), in Brazil. His research has been key to describe the dynamics of singularly hyperbolic attractors and characterize their bifurcations, confirming a conjecture of Jacob Palis.
As a visual artist, Arroyo has fused mathematics and art in his visual work, which has been exhibited internationally in spaces such as the Kirchner Cultural Center and the Museum of Fine Arts in Paris. His innovative approach allows to visualize abstract concepts, transforming mathematical theories into aesthetic expressions. He currently coordinates the Virtual Museum of Mathematics (Mumat), a pioneering project in the dissemination of mathematics from an interdisciplinary perspective. He has also curated exhibitions such as Imaginario Matemático at Universum, reaffirming its commitment to bringing the beauty of mathematics to diverse audiences.
