Biography
Diamela Eltit is a leading Chilean writer of the Generation of the Eighties. Trained in literature and education, she has pursued an extensive academic career as a professor and researcher at universities in Chile, the United States, and Europe. After the return of democracy in Chile, she served as Cultural Attaché of Chile in Mexico. Her work, translated into multiple languages, is among the most influential in contemporary Latin American narrative and has been recognized with major distinctions, including Chile’s National Literature Prize and the Carlos Fuentes International Prize.
