Biography
Juan José Arreola (Zapotlán el Grande, 1918 – Guadalajara, 2001) was a self-taught Mexican writer, storyteller, and playwright. His narrative work, marked by inventiveness and humor, includes titles such as Varia invención, Confabulario, La feria, and Bestiario. He was also an actor, theatre director, and editor of literary magazines. He received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Xavier Villaurrutia Prize, the Juan Rulfo Prize, and recognition from the French government as Officer of Arts and Letters.
