Publishing Merit Award
Between a manuscript and the reader lies a talented editor. Some editors have volumes and collections that influenced generations of readers. The Publishing Merit Award was established by the Guadalajara International Book Fair in honor of the Argentine publisher Arnaldo Orfila Reynal, who served in Mexico as director of the Fondo de Cultura Económica and later founded Siglo XXI Editores.
The award highlights the vision and craft of this fundamental figure in the world of books. The verdict is determined by an international committee made up of editors who have received the award in previous years, along with leading figures from the contemporary publishing world.
