The FIL is Science Too
One of the Guadalajara International Book Fair’s strategic goals is to include science as part of the Fair’s literary offerings. Hand in hand with science outreach, our plan is to begin making a concerted effort to bringing together an audience for hard sciences. With a long-term perspective, we plan to show that there are also good stories to tell in science for readers of all ages. This will allow us to offer new content to visitors and develop a new point of contact with the University of Guadalajara, as well as other educational institutions and research centers in Mexico. We plan to include science not only as a sidebar to the Fair, but as an integral part of our program.
In pursuit of this, in close collaboration with the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), in 2014 we established the “The FIL is Science Too” program, creating a central space for science at the Fair.
