Comic + Graphic Novel Fair
For the second consecutive year, the Salón del Cómic + Novela Gráfica of the International Book Fair of Guadalajara was held from Thursday, November 29 to Sunday, December 2. In this space of 340 square meters, located in the GG corridor of the International Area of the FIL, there was, in 30 stands, the offer of publishers and artists from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Spain, France and Mexico, and diverse activities related to the world of sequential art.
The Salón del Cómic + Novela Gráfica featured a room called Foro Rius del Salón del Cómic, in homage to the great Mexican cartoonist, where 40 activities were held, including presentations and talks. The program included the participation of several Latin American artists, among them the Mexicans Héctor Germán Santarriaga, Alejandra Gamez, Esteban Saldaña, Pavel Ortega, René Córdova, Claudia Aguirre, Eva Cabrera and Fernando Sánchez Antillón; Spaniards Francesc Grimalt and Bartolomé Seguí; the Argentine Jorge Alderete; the Chileans Isabel Molina, Sol Díaz and Marcela Trujillo (Maliki), and the Brazilian Mauricio de Sousa.
In the presentations program, some of the highlights were the presentation of Brigida magazine, a Chilean comics publication made by women; the graphic novel Beyond the Cities, by Alejandra Gamez and Axur Eneas; Phono Comics: Comics & Hip Hop, by David El Dee Espinoza; Tecolutla Makes me Happy, by Logan Wayne, and a discussion about self-publishing as an artistic discourse by the artists of Fanzinación: Verde Agua, Perro Prieto, Motzaqui Rascón and Pavel Ortega, independent Mexican authors. There were also four comic workshops covering subjects of illustration, anatomy and graphic narrative.
