Comic + Graphic Novel Fair

For the third consecutive year, the Guadalajara International Book Fair held the Salón del Cómic + Novela Gráfica (Comic Book + Graphic Novel hall), from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 December. In this space, of 340 square meters, located in the GG and HH corridors of the International pavilion of FIL, there was in 38 stands, the offer of publishers and artists from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Spain, France, Peru and Mexico, and various activities related to the world of sequential art will be carried out.

Activities program:

The Salón del Cómic + Novela Gráfica will once again had a room called the Rius Forum, in homage to the great Mexican cartoonist, where more than 40 activities were held, including presentations and talks. The program includes the participation of various Latin American creators, among them Mexicans José Luis Pescador, Aarón Cruz, Luis Alberto Villegas, Idalia Candelas, Verde Agua, Joshua Hernández and Humberto Hernández; the Spaniards Julio Robledo and Ana Sainz; the Chilean Natalia Matzner, and the Peruvian Eduardo Yaguas and Rocío Urtecho "Gastric Juice". The presentation program highlights Frank Miller's keynote talk, "Curses, though guys and Spartans", the inauguration of the Comic Room with the theme "the Joy of Queer in comic Books", the awarding of the first Pura Pinche Fortaleza Graphic novel contest in which Editorial Televisa, editorial Pura Pinche Fortaleza in collaboration with FIL Guadalajara, published “I Hate this Place (Odio este lugar) the work of the winning author Cold Sinistar. In addition, it featured presentations of works by independent authors: Benkoz, from Colombian Jean Paul Zapata; Among Dogs, Cats and Skulls of Sugar, of Editorial Chipotle, Ayar the legend of the inkas, of the Peruvian Virginia Flores; Ojos de Obsidiana, by Víctor Vega; Dreams of the Psychonaut, of Heizy Cruz and Escape from the war and the waves, by Olivier Kugler. Also, there were five graphic novel workshops in the Hall of Illustrators among which the masterclass of Taiwanese author Sean Chuang was one of the highlights.

Exhibition area:

The visitors of Salón del Cómic + Novela Gráfica found titles from various publishers, in addition to the publications of international groups from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, France, Peru and Mexico, a collective space called Leemos Comics, had publications of 20 independent Mexican authors. Fábrica de Cómics (Comics Factory)

During four days, the creators participating in the Salón del Cómic + Novela Gráfica worked in company of the readers in the Comics Factory. 113 artists from, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Spain and Mexico participated in the work tables. The schedules of the sessions were the following:
