Paula Gicovate was born in Campos dos Goytacazes in 1985 and has been living in Rio de Janeiro since 2004. Paula Gicovate studied Literature/Writing training at PUC- Rio and is a writer and screenwriter for film and TV.

When asked about the autobiographical, confessional, nature of her story, the author responded: All of us are ELLA, or at least part of us. In a way, ELLA is a tribute to all the women and all the men of our lives.

In 2015 she was selected for a creative writing residency in Barcelona, and is currently writing her fourth book on love.
